Minnesota Legal Services Coalition Internship/Volunteer Opportunity

Dear Global Studies Students,
Minnesota Legal Services Coalition is looking for volunteers and Interns with advanced or fluent skills in a foreign language to assist in a multilingual project that will enhance the provision of high quality civil legal services throughout Minnesota. This project involves translating MLSC’s low-literacy factsheets about civil legal problems that low-income Minnesotans have, and then making an audio version of the factsheet to post on a phone hotline and on the free legal website, LawHelpMN.org. These resources will allow Minnesota’s immigrant communities to access reliable legal information in their native language even if they are without literacy skills or a computer.

Interns will gain knowledge and insight in the civil legal field and the non-profit sector. They will also build networking skills and community relationships through outreach events and familiarize themselves with bi-directional translation. Interns will also gain recognition for creating a valuable legal resource for the immigrant community, and ultimately, they will make a difference in eliminating poverty.
Intern opportunities are very flexible and much of the translation work can be done off-site in the volunteer's own time. If you have strong language abilities and are interested in a position, please contact Minnesota Legal Services Coalition.

Thank you for your interest.
