Congress Communications Internship

Position description:

Communications interns will work closely with the Communications Director to reach voters via traditional and new media. Interns will gain valuable professional experience in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. You will have an opportunity to work with and assist all staff members. Students are encouraged to work with their college to arrange for academic credit.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Maintaining campaign’s presence on social media like Facebook and Twitter.
Monitoring local and national news sources.
Assisting with video production.
Event planning and promotion.
Answering all incoming calls and distributing mail to appropriate staff.
Assisting with press outreach and advertising.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates should be proficient in social media, including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. In addition, candidates should possess strong research skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as a passion for progressive politics. Availability should be 15 to 20 hours per week. Candidates with experience on political campaigns and/or advocacy organizations will be given prime consideration.
